Alt Angle Films are pleased to announce that production on their next short film called The Santa Lie will commence this month.
Written and Directed by Darren Langlands, the film tells the story of a little girl who confronts her parents on the truth about Santa early one Christmas morning.
7-year-old Claudia Jean Lewis makes her film debut in the lead role of Amy, with experienced actors Nicole Gaskell, Jonny Black and Jack Pybus rounding out the rest of the cast.
The project is inspired by the Director’s four-year-old daughter. “I wanted to make something that she could watch and enjoy,” Langlands says.
“Lying about Santa is something that many parents can identify with and hopefully this strikes a chord with them. It’s also something lighthearted and fun for them to watch with their children as well,” he adds.
Nicole Gaskell produces, and is also responsible for casting alongside Michelle Hurne from Little Allstars Casting & Modelling Agency. Aatif Ati Zafar of Amber Tint Innovations is Director of Photography, along side Sound Recordist Martin Colclough, Camera Assistant Thomas H. Griffiths and Assistant Director Amy Hicks.
Co-producer Nicole Gaskell says “I’m very pleased to have a great team on board for Santa Lie. As this is my first time casting and producing, I didn’t know quite what to expect but I’ve loved every minute of it and I’m made up we’ve managed to secure such a great cast in a short amount of time. It just goes to show, anything’s possible!”
The Santa Lie is being specifically produced for this year’s Virgin Media Shorts competition but will also be submitted to a range of national and international film festivals throughout 2013.
